Parks, sea-side promenades, yacht clubs, marine laboratories, aquariums, golf courses and other commercial and recreational amenities outlined with accropodes © are added as extension and protection of the capital's belt. Over the years, their growth comes to replace most of the inner-city's functions, eventually making it possible to avoid the inner-city altogether over the course of one's lifetime. Although the belt dwellers have access to the inner-city, its irregular streets, congested highways and polluted overpasses rapidly grow unpractical and the sky and sea become the preferred sites of transportation. By 2160, the inner-city is shrouded under a web of wiring, made invisible to the belt after years of infra-structural neglect.
